Sheyn. Tiny architecture for home. Homeware, designed and 3D printed in Vienna. Made from plant-based materials, with minimal waste. Fabricated using state-of-the-art digital tools and following a contemporary, minimalist design philosophy.

Sheyn. is a Vienna-based design studio founded by Nicolas Gold and Markus Schaffer. The studio utilizes the tools and thinking of architecture to create fully digital designs for every part of everyday life. Each piece is created using state-of-the-art modelling and fabrication techniques.

The word Sheyn itself means beautiful in Yiddish. It was created through cultural exchange and a longing for beauty – like all of our products.

Sheyn. Tiny Architecture for Home and Body

The future of architecture can fit in the smallest room of your apartment. For decades, avant-garde architects have focused on the tiniest details of furniture and fixtures. This obsession with designing for small spaces has now collided with modern technologies such as open-source 3D modelling and printing, producing a new kind of architecture that can fit in the palm of your hand or the corner of your coffee table.

The power of smallness. Tiny Architecture. Sheyn Homeware is designed and 3D printed in the studio in Vienna. Each surprisingly light and sturdy shape is made from plant-based materials. They are constructed from thousands of tiny patterns that provide structural integrity and touchable texture.

Materials

PLA

PLA is a plant-based material made from fermented plant starch such as corn, sugarcane, or beet root pulp. Clean the object with a wet cloth or under running water, not in the dishwasher. There might be tiny irregularities in the pattern due to the nature of 3D printing. The colour might fade over time if the object is exposed to direct sunlight. The 3D-printed object itself is not watertight, so use the included glass container where applicable.

3D-Printed Concrete

3D printed concrete items are covered in a protective layer and suited for outdoor use.

Care

Clean with a wet cloth or under running water, not in the dishwasher. There might be tiny irregularities in the pattern due to the nature of 3D printing. Do not keep the object exposed to direct sunlight. The 3D-printed part is not watertight.

Our products are made from plant-based PLA and can sustain heat up to 70 degrees Celsius / 158 Fahrenheit. You can wash the 3D-printed part with cold water; however, only the glass insert can withstand hot water and is dishwasher safe. We recommend cleaning the 3D-printed part with a dry cloth only.

Since our Sheyn products are made from PLA, we do not recommend placing them in overly hot environments, such as a windowsill in direct sunlight during summer, a dishwasher, or a car that has been standing in the sun for a long time, as this could cause deformation.
